Des Plaines, IL, Jan. 28, 2021 – Wheels, Inc., a leader in the automotive fleet leasing and management industry, was awarded a silver EcoVadis Sustainability Rating, in recognition of its sustainability management practices. The overall rating places Wheels among the top 25 percent of more than 65,000 companies assessed.
EcoVadis methodology covers 21 sustainability criteria in four themes, environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Based on globally recognized standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and ISO 26000, the assessment process is supervised by an international scientific committee. Performance ratings are determined by a review of company policies, actions and results, and input from third-parties and external stakeholders.
“We are proud of our continued recognition by EcoVadis. Wheels is committed to becoming a cleaner fleet management company through recycling programs, green building management practices, public transportation support and more,” said Sara Sweeney, senior product manager at Wheels.
EcoVadis noted numerous Wheels strengths in each of the four themes, including its policy on waste and greenhouse gases, measures to reduce energy consumptions, recycling of IT equipment, customer eco-driving training, and sustainable procurement policies. High scores from third-party assessors also contributed to Wheels’ silver rating. For example, Wheels scored a100% in an Intertek Workplace Conditions Assessment and an 89% in another third-party-contracted Risk and Safety Assessment.
Wheels commitment to sustainability extends beyond their walls to their clients. Their EcoWheels program focuses on the strategies and provides the tools to help fleets achieve their green fleet program objectives.
