UAW/Unifor Strikes

Without an agreement, on September 15th, the UAW declared a strike against the three major domestic manufacturers: Ford, GM and Stellantis. The union is calling it a “stand-up” strike which will involve sudden rotating strikes amongst various plants on an undisclosed but strategic schedule. The UAW represents nearly 150,000 workers.

The agreement for Unifor in Canada expires Monday, September 18th at 11:59 Eastern. The union is currently targeting Ford and to date they have rejected two offers. As per the Unifor president, “Things are moving but we are certainly not there yet.” Unifor is the largest private sector union in Canada with 315,000 members.

While we cannot predict the duration of the strikes, we are hopeful that all parties will come to a fair conclusion. Wheels will keep you informed on the daily progress via our Strike Hub which can be found here.
