Inside FleetWeek

Reminder: Chevrolet Traverse production gap begins the week of November 23

Production of the Chevrolet Traverse will cease the week of November 23, 2009, and will not resume until the first quarter of the 2010 calendar year.  The approximate three-month gap in Traverse production will be in place while production tooling is moved from Spring Hill, Tennessee, to the Lansing Delta Township Assembly Center in Michigan.

To ensure production during the 2009 calendar year and avoid the production gap, we recommend that all orders be submitted no later than October 2, 2009

Please note that October 2 is not a model year order cutoff date.  Orders received by GM on or before October 2, with a Requested Target Production Period within calendar year 2009, will be scheduled for production before production is halted in November.  Orders received after October 2 will be produced in the 2010 calendar year.

Drive Safely Work Week October 5-9

Please keep in mind that the 13th annual Drive Safely Work Week (DSWW) campaign will take place from Monday, October 5 through Friday, October 9.

The campaign, sponsored each year by the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS), is aimed at helping employers encourage safe and responsible driving practices. Information is provided so that drivers can become aware of and prepare for unpredictable behaviors of other drivers, disabled vehicles, adverse weather conditions, and other potential hazards. It also stresses that being more focused allows motorists to react quickly and properly to any situation.

We encourage you to actively communicate with drivers about the importance of roadway safety. Accident and violation prevention is an important issue for all fleets, and Wheels is fully committed to helping our clients ensure that their drivers are taking the necessary safety precautions. For information on the Wheels SafetyFirst driver safety programs including record screening, our online training programs, and how Wheels can help your fleet reduce accidents and their impact to your business, please contact safetyfirst@wheels.com or a member of your account team.

For more information on DSWW, please visit the NETS website at http://trafficsafety.org/drivesafelyworkweek/.
